As the Festival of Architecture 2016 comes to an end, we take a look at some of the highlights from the year. Hosted across Scotland, we are proud to have supported the yearlong festival, which has shone a spotlight on some of Scotland’s most iconic architecture.
Say hello to architecture!
To kick of the 2016 festival, events were held across Scotland. The programme included ‘Say Hello to Architecture: Best of the Best’, an exhibition bringing together award winning projects from across the country.
Building the century
Celebrating the top 100 buildings from 1916 to 2015, nominated by the Scottish public, this free exhibition toured the length and breadth of Scotland, and gave visitors the chance to vote for their favourite.
And the award goes to…
In July, we sponsored the RIAS Emerging Architect Awards, which was won by Sarah-Jane Storrie for the Saunders Centre in Glasgow. You can read the fully story here.
The finale of the Festival of Architecture took place in Dundee on 19 November. The ‘Light Nights’ event brought together a spectacular programme of events centred around the city’s family-friendly Christmas lights.
And so the 2016 Festival of Architecture comes to an end! It’s been a pleasure to be involved in this fantastic festival, celebrating iconic Scottish architecture across the years.
